Mark Dutton - Managing Director

Mark has almost 20 years experience in winter service.  He spent the first three years of his working life in ICI’s chemical trading division, where he bought and sold chemicals throughout Europe.  He then became ICI Salt’s internal sales contact for all UK rock salt sales.  Eighteen months later this business was divested by ICI and was re-named Salt Union.

During his 14 years at Salt Union, Mark became the company’s UK Sales Manager, responsible for the sales of circa. 1,000,000 tonnes of rock salt each year.  It was here that Mark began to fully appreciate the demands placed upon UK practitioners during the winter season.  Whilst in this role, Mark was a founder member of the National Salt Spreading Research Group, a role he still maintains representing Safecote Ltd.

In 2002, Mark left Salt Union and took up the position of Director of Sales at Peacock Salt Ltd in Glasgow.  It was here that Mark forged strategic relationships with salt suppliers in the UK and Europe, whilst working on the development of other niche businesses.

Mark joined Safecote Ltd in 2004 as Director of Sales.  He was responsible for the introduction and growth of the Safecote technology in the UK, where sales rose by over 400% in the first year.  In July 2005 Mark was appointed as Managing Director of Safecote Ltd and re-located the company from London to Cheshire.  Since that date Mark has continued to develop the technology in the UK, as well as 8 other European countries.

David Wilson – Director of Operations UK & Ireland

David has been involved in the highway maintenance industry for over 27 years and actively engaged in the delivery and management of the winter service, for over 24 years.

David has over 23 years of knowledge working for a Local Authority, Staffordshire County Council, where he has gained a considerable amount of expertise of not only network management, but also a tremendous understanding and experience in winter maintenance.

David was one of the founder members of the National Salt Spreading Research Group (NSSRG), initially as Chairman and is currently Secretary to the group. He was also an active member of the Vaisala Working Group, which he has served for over 8 years.

Latterly David has been employed by Carillion Transport where he was the Head of Service for Winter Maintenance. He was responsible, on behalf of Carillion, for overseeing the winter service on over 20% of the Motorways and Trunk Roads in England and delivering the Winter Service for some 11,000 km of highway, for other highway authorities. This totals an annual operation in excess of £20m per annum.

Judith Ambrose – European Sales Manager

Judith has over 15 years experience in international sales and key account management within the steel and automotive industries. She has sourced and appointed distributors/agents within Europe and the Middle East. She has also worked with companies such as Siemens, Ericsson, Allen Bradley, Grundig, Phillips, Valeo, Volvo, DAF as well as other recognised blue chip companies.

Although Judith's entrance into the Winter Maintenance is new her worldwide international experience is proven. Having lived in Switzerland and Germany she speaks fluent Germany and basic Italian (and being Irish very basic Gaelic).

Angela Webb – Office Manager

Angela joined Safecote in August 2005, bringing with her over 25 years experience in Office Management, administration, customer relations and customer services. Angela is currently towards the end of achieving her National BTE
